FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New independent press combines professional publishing, post-launch marketing support and shared ownership for authors.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Aug. 27, 2026 — Inbound Books, a writer-owned cooperative publishing house founded by four San Antonio-area authors, today announced its launch. The press will begin releasing original and revitalized backlist titles this fall and is accepting submissions from authors.
Inbound Books was founded by Jayne Bodmann, Christopher Bodmann, Joseph Guyer and BJ Bell, who created the press to give writers a more collaborative, professionally supported path to publication. Together, the founders bring experience in writing, editing, book design, publishing operations and author marketing.
The independent press was founded on the belief that strong creative voices deserve professional support and sustained advocacy after publication, not just a path to market. Inbound Books offers a third option between traditional publishing, where resources are often concentrated on a small number of priority titles, and self-publishing, where authors independently manage every stage of bringing a book to market.
“We believe authors deserve more than a contract or a checklist,” said Jayne Bodmann. “They deserve a community that believes in their work, equips them for the marketplace, and has a genuine stake in helping their book take flight.”
In traditional publishing, marketing resources are often concentrated on a small share of a publisher’s list, leaving many authors to shoulder much of the long-term work of building visibility for their books. Self-published authors retain greater control but must frequently act as their own editor, designer, production manager, distributor, publicist, marketer, and sales team.
Inbound Books combines professional publishing services with ongoing author support. The press provides editorial development, cover design, interior layout, production and distribution, while working alongside authors to build visibility and connect books with readers. Every Inbound title receives a foundational marketing plan and an author toolkit with practical guidance on social media, events, media interviews, podcast appearances and long-term promotion.
“Launching a book is not the finish line,” Bodmann said. “It is the beginning of the work of connecting that story with its audience. We stand beside our authors beyond publication, helping them build confidence, visibility, and momentum over time.”
Inbound’s cooperative structure turns the author community into a practical advantage. Members contribute agreed-upon skills and sweat equity to shared efforts that strengthen the marketing, visibility and success of fellow authors’ books. In return, members retain a higher share of book revenue and participate in quarterly co-op profits based on documented contributions to the collective.
That structure makes success collective rather than zero-sum: when authors help fellow members succeed, they help build a stronger press and share in its growth.
For writers, the value is both professional and personal. Writing is often a solitary pursuit, requiring countless hours of work before a manuscript ever reaches a reader. Inbound Books aims to ensure authors do not face the next stage alone: navigating industry gatekeeping, building an audience, and carrying the full burden of publication and promotion on their own.
Inbound Books is currently accepting submissions from authors whose work aligns with the press’s editorial vision and cooperative model. Writers can review publishing categories, submission requirements and cooperative membership expectations at inboundbooks.org/submissions.
